GOVERNANCE:

Chairman of The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™:
Chairing plays a pivotal role in any voluntary Management Committee. The Chairman ensures the Committee operates effectively, fosters full participation during meetings, facilitates comprehensive discussions on relevant matters, and ensures effective decision-making and execution.

The role of Chairman demands a significant time commitment, including work between meetings, external representation of the organization, and collaboration with staff. Leading a large organization requires high-level diplomatic and leadership skills.

The Chairman of the Board serves as the principal elective officer of The Institute. When present, the Chairman presides over all meetings of The Institute, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee. Additionally, they serve as an ex officio member, with voting rights, on all other committees except the Audit Committee. The Chairman’s duties and powers are prescribed by the Board of Directors and the bye-laws.

Main responsibilities of the Chairman:
The Chairman’s responsibilities encompass five key areas:

Providing leadership: The Chairman serves as an effective strategist and networker, providing overarching leadership.

Ensuring proper functioning of the Management Committee: The Chairman ensures effective planning and execution of each meeting, adherence to the constitution, and orderly handling of matters. They optimize the Committee’s performance, lead the team, and oversee the renewal process through recruitment of new members.

Ensuring effective management of the organization: The Chairman coordinates Committee efforts to establish appropriate policies and procedures for effective organizational management.

Providing support and supervision to the chief officer and senior team: The Chairman often serves as the direct line manager for the chief officer, providing support and supervision to the senior team.

Representing the organization: The Chairman serves as the figurehead of the organization and may represent it at various functions or meetings.

The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ Global Board of Directors:

The Board of Directors serves as the governing body of The Institute. It comprises 7 members elected at an annual meeting of the membership.

The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ Boards and Committees:
The primary function of The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ boards and committees is to set strategies for achieving The Institute’s goals and objectives and provide advice and counsel to the headquarters staff. Committee terms usually span three years, with one-third of members’ terms expiring annually.

The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ Volunteers — Committees:
The primary function of The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ committees is to develop and implement programs to achieve The Institute’s goals and objectives and provide advice and counsel to the headquarters staff. Committee terms typically last for three years, with one-third of members’ terms expiring annually.

Academic Relations Committee:

Mission: To establish relationships among academics, students, practitioners, administrators, and others to promote the role of internal auditing and internal auditing education within college/university curricula globally.

Audit Committee:

Mission: To assist the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors in fulfilling their oversight responsibilities for The Institute’s financial reporting process, internal control system, and audit process; to recommend a certified public accounting firm to audit and report on The Institute’s financial statements annually; to oversee The Institute’s Internal Audit program; and to oversee practices ensuring compliance with legal, risk management, and regulatory requirements.

Exam Development Committee:

Mission: To ensure The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™’s certification exams’ content remains aligned with and reflects the current global practice of internal auditing, including the International Professional Practices Framework.

Executive Committee:

Mission: To support the Board of Directors in overseeing The Institute’s affairs.

Finance Committee:

Mission: To review The Institute’s budget and financial policies and procedures, ensuring revenue and expense reporting and asset and liability management adhere to acceptable accounting practices and provide necessary decision-making information.

Professional Certifications Board:

Mission: To govern and promote The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™’s global certification programs, recognized as the global benchmark for the profession.

Chapter Relations Committee:

Mission: To assist chapter leadership as a resource and liaison to The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ in enabling chapters to meet their objectives; to effectively promote the professional practice of internal auditing through quality member services; and to develop effective strategies to address chapter-level issues and opportunities.

Publications Advisory Committee:

Mission: To ensure The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ publications meet high professional and technical standards consistent with its leadership position in internal auditing.

The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™ Leadership:

Our executive team:

The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™’s operations are managed by a team of professionals, primarily based at our offices.

Chief Executive Officer:

Responsible for the Institute’s day-to-day operations, the CEO acts as its key spokesperson. They lead the executive staff in achieving operational performance and strategic and business objectives.

The CEO is supported by business unit directors, forming the executive group, to shape and implement policies and plans agreed by the Council and ensure efficient Institute management.

Training and Development Officer:

Leads the development of The Institute of Tax Accountants Pakistan™’s training and learning programs, including identifying opportunities for expansion, creating tailored solutions, designing learning materials, and delivering quality training courses and events.

Finance Officer:

Oversees financial transactions’ accuracy, produces financial statements and management information, monitors performance against budgets, manages working capital and cash-flow, and ensures compliance with health & safety regulations.

Communications, Marketing, and Member Relations Officer:

Manages the Institute’s external relations program, plans media relations, develops marketing strategy, website management, and digital communications, and liaises with the regional network.

Policy and External Relations Officer:

Leads the Institute’s policy program, generates policy positions, conducts research, manages lobbying and policy consultation work, and enhances the Institute’s reputation.

Professional Services Officer:

Leads the Professional Services team, develops services for heads of internal audit, accredits in-house training programs, manages professional examination sessions, and enforces professional development requirements.
